About the Club

A committee of five elected officials run Ibiza Cricket Club. These positions are filled by a small group of dedicated people who form the backbone of the club. Over the last 25 years Ibiza C.C. has seen many characters filling these vital positions and all have worked tirelessly to take the club forward

Chairman – Martin Makepeace, moved from the role of Captain to Chairman in 2009 and will now oversee the next phase of the club’s development.

Press Secretary – Robin Parmenter, his impressive linguistic and communication skills make him the ideal person for this role, his press reports are legendary.

Treasurer – Lyn Carpenter is the clubs heartbeat and really is one of the boys with her enthusiasm and excellent organizational skills, she acts as the pivot between the club, the ground and the opposing sides.

Social Secretary – Paul Ambrose, re-elected for 2012 and always looking to inject some new ideas and energy into this very important role in the club.

Club Captain – Jeremy Parmenter, elected for the 2010 season and now about to enter his third season as skipper. His gregarious personality, organization, drive and desire are taking the club in the right direction (shame about the speeches).

The Players – These come from all walks of life and are nearly all ex-pats and based on the Island. It’s a real mixture of young and old and it’s probably the only overseas team where you will find a barman, an estate agent and a vicar playing in the same side together.

The Season – Starts in late March/early April and ends in the second week of November with a tour to the mainland of Spain.

The Ground – Ibiza C.C. is now in its third home at the San Jose Football Stadium which has proved to be very successful and with its superior facilities and excellent location. The ground has a large artificial pitch (called poli-grass which is softer and bouncier than astro-turf) with a flexi pitch wicket. The stadium boasts superb facilities such as changing rooms, showers, shaded seating area (vital in Ibiza) and a large air-conditioned bar with an excellent viewing position. Food and drink is served all day.

Social Members – This is what Ibiza C.C. is truly famous for – as you may expect of a cricket club from a small, hedonistic island in the middle of the Mediterranean – and why it has members from all over the world. The very nature and history of Ibiza is stacked in tourism, hospitality and good living and this is passed down to all members and friends of the club. Whether it is with visiting teams on tour, at the Balearic Championship or when Ibiza Cricket Club travel on tour the spirit of the club can never be questioned. Ibiza Cricket Club is always looking for new social members to join their many functions, fundraising and sociable gatherings.
