Ibiza batted first and openers Sam Gooda and Paddy Mills saw off some accurate pace bowling before opening up to score runs steadily. The latter retired on 76, and Skipper Gooda then followed on 53 not out, while Kiwi Chris Prentice consolidated by recording his maiden half century for the club, and then retired on 53, with the score on a solid 195/2. The hosts then lost several quick wickets, with only Charles Bromley (18) reaching double figures, so Mills returned to finish on 90 not out, and help Ibiza to an imposing 251/8 off 35 overs.
Alfas bowlers Rob Shankman(3), Jake Sunderland(3), Ben Marriner (1)and Rich Stephens (1) were the wicket takers.
SACC then batted and struggled to score at the required 7 runs per over, not helped by Skipper Phil Pennick departing early. All rounders Sunderland (27), Ben Fletcher (30) and Shankman (27) hit some rapid boundaries to up the scoring rate, but once they fell, only George Metcalfe (13) and Ben Marriner (13 not out) stood out, along with solid batting from veteran John “JB” Braithwaite. The visitors finished on 154/9, Ibiza coming out winners by 97 runs.
Ibiza bowlers Jim Harvey (2), Mike Amos (2), Steve Hadlow (3), Paul Cruttwell (1) and Chris Prentice (1) contributed to the wickets.
