Balearic Cup 2019 - Mallorca CC v Ibiza CC -

Ibiza once again batted first, but could not even improve on their under par batting performance the day before against a varied and accurate Mallorca bowling attack. Only opener Adam Johnston held his end up with a stylish 53, but found no support at all, with Ibiza subsiding to a paltry 77 all out off 33 overs.

Mallorca bowler Sasha had the most success with 5 wickets, with Rizwan(2) and Vickers (2), also contributing, although the latter unnecessarily chose to bowl bouncers to the Ibiza no 11!

Mallorca did not waste time in chasing their easy target, and lost only one wicket when batting, opener Barnes (22 not out) combining with ex county player Vickers (45 not out) to knock the runs off in 10 overs!

Ibiza, coming to defend the Balearic Cup  this year, had hoped to be more competitive than it turned out, but came up against captain Simon Cotton’s well organised and motivated Menorca team, and a diverse group of high level Mallorca (Palma CC) cricketers, captained by Saffer allrounder Wes Walker, so it was not to be. They will need to regroup and reorganise their efforts to perform better next year, which given the problems to find a pitch in Mallorca, would be scheduled to take place in Ibiza.
