The Renegades, skippered by former Ibiza captain Graeme Cooper, batted first and Paddy Slater (notching 56, his maiden ½ century!) with the experienced Stuart Browne (39) kept the score ticking over well, reaching 74/1 off 15 overs, and adding 90 for the second wicket before the latter departed. Graeme Cooper (19), Ken Johnston (27) and Johnny Leighton (24 not out) all added useful boundaries to allow the hosts to post a challenging 200/7 off 30 overs.
TVCC bowlers Bert Welch (2), Dave Maplestone (1), Mark Williams (1) and Nick Yeo (1) all took wickets.
The visitors then batted and opener Graham Clarkson looked settled in a composed 49, but did not receive much support until no.5 Sean Beynon (34) joined him. They kept in line with the run rate at 69/3 off 15 overs, but once they departed, it climbed to over 9 per over. Skipper Nick Yeo (16) and Matt Mayes (23 not out) added important boundaries but it was not enough and TVCC finished on a creditable 181/7, losing a highly entertaining match by 19 runs.
For Ibiza Renegades, Jonathan Dudding stood out with 4/20, supported by Cooper, Johnston and Leighton with a wicket each.
TVCC visit Ibiza every 2 years since 2013, so our thanks go to tour organisers Simon Yeo and Mark Williams for bringing their West country team back to Ibiza once more.
