30 0vers per side Result: Ibiza (175/5) beat Ibiza Renegades (125 all out) by 50 runs
Ibiza Skipper Sam “Dude” Gooda decided to bat first and scored steadily with Tim Stacey (49 not out), before falling for 25. Ibiza then lost several quick wickets before Saffer newcomer Brandon Reid joined Tim Stacey with the score on a shaky 65/4, and opened his batting account for Ibiza with a spectular 78. Their impressive 107 run stand allowed Ibiza to finish their innings on a solid 175/5.
The Renegades’ Skipper Graeme “G-Man” Cooper was their best bowler with 2/21, supported by Shahid and A. Marshall with a wicket each. The visitors then batted and, despite a solid innings from Stuart Browne (23) and a determined 41 from another newcomer to Ibiza cricket, Alex Marshall, they struggled to score rapidly with the required rate getting above 10 runs per over. Only veteran Stephen Balmforth (10) and experienced ex Ibiza Skipper Martin “Shaggy” Makepeace (13) resisted, but were unable to prevent the Renegades falling to 125 all out in the 26th over.
The Ibiza bowlers all restricted the scoring rate, highlighted by Paul Cruttwell’s 1/7, and Mike Amos’ 2/7, helped by J.Dudding, C.Prentice, T.Stacey, P.Ambrose and R. Parmenter all maintaining the scoreboard pressure.
