Follies Farm (Chiddingford, Surrey) skipper Ben Griffiths chose to bat first and with opener James Parsons (27), they batted composedly until the former was out for 10. Several wickets then fell before middle order batsmen John Greenslade (27) and Kiwi club chairman Guy Gibson (39) began hitting out and upping the run rate. However, once they departed the score was 113/6, then Ibiza managed to slow the run rate and take the last few wickets rapidly to reduce the visitors to 131 all out in the 23rd over.

Ibiza's bowling was economical overall, with Robin Parmenter (4/18), Jon Dudding (3/31) and Jeremy Parmenter (2/51) taking the wickets, and M. Amos contributing one.

Ibiza then batted and struggled against fast, accurate bowling from the visitors. Paddy Slater hit a determined 18, but, at 55/5 off 15 overs, Ibiza looked up against it, still needing 77 runs. But their longest serving and experienced club member, Martin "Shaggy" Makepeace thought otherwise and struck a robust 35, along with 15 from skipper Sam Gooda, to get the score to 88/7. Jon Dudding then arrived and struck several boundaries in his 21 not out to bring the target within reach, and Mike Amos then hit the winning runs in the 27th over in a pulsating and sporting match of cricket.

Of the visitors' bowlers, Guy Gibson stood out with 3/46, with Ben Hallet (2/20), Roly Rolands, Henry Grant and John Greenslade all contributing too.

Thanks to Ben Griffiths and Chairman Guy Gibson for organising the Follies Farm Old Spot CC's first visit to Ibiza, and we have now made some new cricket friends to welcome back as soon as they can return!
