25 overs per side
Sporting Alfas batted first and their openers Rob Sheltman (32) and Gary Crompton (60 retired, playing his last game for the hosts) wasted no time in attacking Ibiza's bowlers with a 73 run stand in 11 overs. Skipper Adam Alger (14) and Christian Muñoz (27) continued the assault, and, although the hosts then lost several quick wickets, they were able to close their innings on a daunting 176/8. Of the Ibiza bowlers, long term club player Stuart Browne impressed with 5/15, while veteran Jeremy Parmenter also contributed 2 wickets, but overall Ibiza, missing several regular players, suffered in the field and struggled to keep the run rate below 7 per over.
Ibiza then batted and were never able to match the required run rate against the hosts' economical bowling, while losing wickets regularly. It was only the all round ability of S. Browne, with a defiant 30, and a steady 18 not out from R.Parmenter that enabled the visitors to bat out their overs, but they still fell well short on 90/6, losing by 86 runs.
Sporting Alfas showed once again why they are one of the best league teams in Spain, and it was a hard afternoon's cricket for Ibiza!
